Over many decades we have had a close relationship with the fruit juice industry and we can look back on a high level of experience in fruit juice applications of all types. This partnership has also driven much product development at API Schmidt-Bretten, so that with us you can be sure of finding the appropriate plate heat exchanger for every application.
In particular, our SIGMA plate heat exchangers are best suited for pasteurization processes for the aseptic cold filling of fruit juices, carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks, concentrates, syrups and other products with high levels of acidity.
Typical tasks for SIGMA plate heat exchanger in the beverage industry are:
- Cooling, heating and short-term heating of fruit juices
- Cooling, heating and short-term heating of vegetable juices
- Cooling, heating and short-term heating of soft drinks
- Cooling, heating and short-term heating of mixed drinks
- Cooling, heating and short-term heating of syrups
- Hot water boiler
- CIP heater
Application example: Two-stage beverage cooler
The manufacture of beverage mixtures is implemented at exactly defined temperatures. First of all, the solution water is precooled from an arbitrary temperature to 10°C in the SIGMA heat exchanger. Then the corresponding syrup is added in a separate container. The water-syrup mixture is heated up again to approx. 15°C. The mixture is now cooled through the 2nd stage of the SIGMA heat exchanger to the storage temperature of 4°C. Glycol serves here as a cooling medium, which absorbs the heat of the drink. As a result of its compact design type and associated low filling capacities, the SIGMA heat exchanger is particularly suited for maintaining losses at a low level in case of product change. Optimal heat transfer with low pressure losses additionally guarantees low operating costs.
